Plethora of Bucs Recognized by Big South

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South announced the women's tennis All-Conference honorees on Thursday, and there were a number of Bucs that made the list.

All eight members of the Charleston Southern women's tennis team were on at least one list for the 2023 season, including four players that made First-Team All-Conference. Luiza Fullana, Kassandra Di Staulo and Amila Jusufbegovic were all named to the first-team for singles.

For Fullana, it was her first time being named to All-Conference First-Team. This comes after a 12-5 (5-1 in conference) record this season. Of her 12 wins, 10 of them were sweeps. She won Big South Player of the Week back on March 29th.  Fullana was also named to First-Team All-Big South for Doubles along with teammate Khyanna Singh. Together, the two of them went 10-8 (4-2 in conference).

Di Staulo was named First-Team All-Conference after posting an undefeated 14-0 record. The sophomore from Weston, FL is the eleventh player in school history to have a 1.000 winning percentage in a single season. She was one win away from qualifying for the best singles winning percentage in a season.

Jusufbegovic receives honors after going undefeated (5-0) in conference play and finishing with an overall record of 13-5 after winning her final eight matches of the season. She won Big South Player of the Week after going 3-0 against Bucknell, UAB and Texas at San Antonio with three-straight sweeps.

Along with Noa Boyd, Jusufbegovic also made Second-Team All-Conference for doubles. Together, the two of them went 8-7 on the season and 4-2 in conference. Boyd also made All-Conference Second-Team for singles after posting an 11-6 record and 4-1 in conference. She was the first Buccaneer to win conference player of the week on March 9th, helping the Bucs defeat East Carolina for the first time in school history.

Tiffany Pyritz/Zoe Cauthen also made Big South All-Conference Second-Team with an overall record of 10-10. They were 4-1 in conference and finished the 2023 spring season with a 7-3 record.

Rounding out the list is Marina Skegro, who was Big South All-Conference Second Team for singles. The freshman from Croatia earns these honors after posting a 9-8 (4-2 in conference) record that included a run of five-straight sweeps in the month of March.

The Bucs look to finish the season strong in the Big South Championships this weekend, as they look to win the conference tournament for the fourth-straight year. They will be the No. 2 seed.
