TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Charleston Southern softball team lost both of their games on Saturday, falling to Florida International 6-1 and 9-1 in the Dugout Club Classic hosted by No. 11 Florida State.
Game One
The Bucs (6-7) fell behind early 3-0 but got on the board with a sac fly by
Kendal Cook that scored
Madelyne Lee.
Annah Junge took the loss to fall to 2-5 on the season. She pitched 2.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits and striking out two batters. She gave way to
Nealy Lamb, who allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two strikeouts. Charleston Southern made three errors and left 10 runners on base.
Game Two
Charleston Southern (6-8), the home team, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game two, as
Weslin Jones knocked in
Carsten Sandvig with an RBI infield single. After that, it was all Panthers (8-9), as they scored nine runs in the final four innings to take the second game.
Blake Holtorf started the game for the Bucs and went 4.1 innings allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits and walked four batters.
Riley Lauffer followed and lasted just 0.2 innings allowing three runs on three hits.
Weslin Jones was two for two at the plate with an RBI. The Bucs managed just three hits in the second game and one in the final four innings.
On Deck
The tournament wraps up tomorrow, as the Bucs will take on Nichols at 10 AM before heading back to Charleston.
