CLINTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern dropped their regular season finale to Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 72-65.
The Buccaneers fell behind early after scoring the opening bucket. The Blue Hose were able to climb ahead to a 14-5 lead, but a pair of
DJ Patrick three-pointers brought it back within a point as the Bucs rattled off an 8-0 scoring run to bring it to 14-13. Presbyterian was able to stretch their edge back out as the half winded down taking a 38-27 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Bucs were able to continuously cut into the Presbyterian lead during it but were unable to bring it within a possession.
Taje' Kelly and
A'lahn Sumler each scored in double figures for the second half and helped the team stay within reach.
Sumler had the team-high for scoring with 23 while Kelly finished with 14 and
RJ Johnson had 11. Johnson dished another eight assists in the outing for back-to-back games.
The Buccaneers will now turn their attention to the Hercules Tires Big South Championship with action slated to begin for the Bucs on Friday. The official seedings and matchups for the entire tournament will be announced later tonight once all regular season games are completed.
