ORANGEBURG – Charleston Southern recorded one of their best showings of the season at S.C. State on Saturday as they competed at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic.
Layla Senter was the first Buccaneer to compete on the day at the meet. Senter took first overall in the shot put as she threw for a personal best in the event with a heave of 14.98 (49' 1.75"), just .01 of a meter away from tying the school record. Senter continues to sit at 2
nd in school record books for the outdoor event.
In the hammer throw, Charleston Southern went 1-2-3 overall in the event. Senter had the top mark of 49.45m (162' 3"), Carson was at 47.27m (155' 1") and
Hannah Hall had a 42.88m (140' 8").
In the discus, the Bucs went 1-2 again with
Josie Ankney and Carson each eclipsing 40 meters in it. Ankney's was right around 40m for a personal best while Carson hit 43m on hers.
The Buccaneers will turn their attention to next weekend where they will have a trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the Yellow Jacket Invite. The Bucs will be contested from Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 20. This is the team's final regular season meet for the season.
