FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – For the first time in 14 years, the Charleston Southern women's golf team has an individual champion in the Big South Conference Tournament.
Odette Font took home medalist honors after carding three-under 69 on Tuesday and finished the tournament with an even-par 216 (73-74-69). Her third round score was tied for the lowest round by anyone in the tournament this year. This was her second event win this season, as she posted three birdies on the back nine holes in round three.
As a team, Charleston Southern finished stroke play as the No. 1 team, finishing the three days with an overall score of 895. They finished four strokes ahead of the second-place team, USC Upstate.
Caroline Engelbredt was the next best finisher for the Buccaneers, as she carded a 74 (+2).
Katie Stephens finished +2 over par at 74.

The Match Play Semifinal round will begin on Wednesday, as Charleston Southern will go in as the No. 1 seed and take on No. 4 Longwood starting at hole one. It will begin at 8 AM with Engelbredt starting it off for the Bucs.
Stephens will tee off at 8:08 AM, followed by Elise Verhoeven at 8:16 AM,
Madison Freeman at 8:24 AM and Font at 8:32 AM. They will continue at Ocean Creek Golf Course on a Par 72 Course at 6,004 yards.
With a win in the semifinals, the Bucs will take on the winner of No. 2 USC Upstate and No. 3 High Point, who also begin at 8 AM on Wednesday at hole 10, for the Big South Championship at 1:30 PM.
The winner of the tournament will receive the Big South's automatic bid into the NCAA Regionals. Charleston Southern looks to receive their first bid since 2010.
