FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. - The No. 1 seeded Charleston Southern women's golf team survived the semifinal round against No. 4 Longwood on Wednesday to advance to their first Big South Championship since 2010, when they won it all.
Once again, Ocean Creek Golf Course on Fripp Island is the host site for the Big South Championships. It is a Par 72 course at 6,004 yards.
The Buccaneers and Lancers were neck and neck the entire round, as Charleston Southern pulled away in the final match, as things were tied 2-2, and
Odette Font clinched it for the Bucs.
Font was able to tie things up on the 16
th whole with a penalty OB stroke and finished the round up by two holes.
Caroline Engelbredt was first up for Charleston Southern, and she finished the round up by five holes with four holes left to play.
Elsie Verhoeven was up by three holes with two holes left to play.
Charleston Southern takes on No. 2 USC Upstate on Wednesday afternoon for the chance to win their first conference championship since 2010 and receive the Big South's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
