CHARLESTON - The Bucs are off for the summer, but that does not mean that play has stopped. Members of Charleston Southern's 2024 baseball team have departed for destinations around the country to play in summer collegiate leagues. Charleston Southern has 14 players around the United States of America with them as close as Tarboro, North Carolina and as far as Minot, North Dakota.

Cape Cod Baseball League
Evan Truitt, RHP #41 – Orleans Firebirds
Truitt joins the Firebirds for his second straight summer stint. Last season, Evan was a main stay in the Orleans rotation starting in 10 of his 11 appearances including getting the nod in the Cape Cod League championship game.
It has been more of the same this summer on the Cape for Evan. He was named the opening day starter for the Firebirds against defending champions Bourne. He has toed the rubber three times for the Firebirds totaling 11 innings of work which is tied for 3rd most in the league. In his second start, Truitt scattered just three singles across five innings of work against the Chatham Anglers.
Coastal Plains League
Gavin Bogdanchik C/OF, #3 – Martinsville Mustangs
One of the Bucs utility men this season, Bogdanchik has found himself patrolling the outfield in Martinsville, VA. Through 10 games, the rising senior has collected nine hits, three of them being doubles. He has driven in eight runs for the Mustangs to go along with scoring seven runs in his 37 at bats. Between June 5th and June 19th, Bogdanchik had an RBI streak stretch across four games which included his best game of the season. In that game he went 3-3 with a home run and a sac fly to anchor an 8-3 win for Martinsville.
New England Collegiate Baseball League
Nick Timpanelli, RHP #34 – Keene Swampbats
Timpanelli wore many hats this past season for the Bucs. He had experience coming out of the bullpen as a closer and long reliever as well as starting nine games on the bump for CSU. Keene has taken advantage of Timpanelli's versatility this summer.
Timpanelli has tallied three appearances with two starts across in the early stages of the Swampbats' season. The right-hander has seven strikeouts to just one walk and his 3.17 ERA across 11.1 innings is good for 5th on the team. He picked up his lone decision of the summer in a 6-4 win over the North Shore Navigators in three innings of relief. He struck out four in that outing.
New York Collegiate Baseball League
Hayden Henry, C #26 – Cortland Crush
In seven games up north, the Jacksonville native has posted a .333 average. Henry has shown good patience at the plate drawing four walks to just two strikeouts. His biggest game came in a 5-3 win
at the Sherrill Silversmiths. Henry slugged his first home run of the season and ended the day 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Collin Krazter, RHP #21 – Cortland Crush
Krazter dazzled in his first start for Cortland against Syracuse. The rising sophomore picked up the win while fanning eight batters across 7.2 innings of work allowing just one hit. The one run charged to him was unearned. For his performance, Krazter earned NYCBL Pitcher of the Week in week one of the season. Krazter has three starts for the Crush with 12 strikeouts to his name.
Northwoods League
Aidan McAskie, INF #27 – Kokomo Jackrabbits
McAskie should be a name all Bucs fans recognize for his heroics in the Big South Championships following his pinch-hit go-ahead two run home run in the top of 9th inning against High Point.
In 12 games in Kokomo, Indiana, the left-handed slugger has tallied eight hits to go along with five runs scored. His six walks drawn has him as 7th best on the team. McAskie had his best game of the season last night against the Rockford Rivets. He finished with a season-high three hits, two of them doubles, and crossed the plate once.
Lucas Pringle, C #11 – Minot Hot Tots
The CSU backstop has fared well early in the Northwoods. Pringle has tallied at least one RBI in five of his last seven starts for the Hot Tots. Three of those games have been multi-RBI nights for the Shawnee native. Pringle provided all the offense in a 3-2 game against the La Crosse Loggers when he clubbed a two-run home run for the home team. Of his seven hits during the young season, four have gone for extra bases.
Old North State League
Mason Reising, C #20 – Tarboro River Bandits
Mason redshirted the 2024 season but has caught fire for the River Bandits this summer. Reising has five home runs in 16 games which leads the Old North State League. Reising holds the team lead in OPS with 1.048. He also has five doubles meaning 10 of his 14 hits have gone for extra bases. The rising sophomore has knocked in 14 runs while also scoring 14 of his own. On June 19th, Reising went 2-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored, and three runs driven in.
Lee Watson, LHP #30 – Tarboro River Bandits
Watson has excelled in his seven games in his home state of North Carolina this summer. Over his 8.1 innings, he boasts a 0.00 ERA, only allowing one unearned run. Watson has scattered just five hits over his six outings. He has recorded two or more strikeouts in half of his appearances. In his most recent performance on June 22nd at Kingston he hurled two scoreless frames of relief, striking out two Wingmen in the process.
Valley Baseball League
Brett Gastman, LHP #19 – Charlottesville Tom Sox
Typically seen starting for the navy and gold, Gastman has found success for Charlottesville as a reliver. In five appearances out of the bullpen, the southpaw has struck out 16 batters which is second most on the team. He has recorded three or more strikeouts in four of his five outings. Gastman has posted a 3-1 record across his 13 innings of work. He turned in his best work in a 10-2 win where he threw three scoreless innings while striking out five.
Brock Kuehler, UTL #38 – Winchester Royals
Kuehler just joined the Royals for the second half of the VBL schedule. He appeared in his first game last night starting at third base and batting ninth. He recorded six putouts on defense and picked up a stolen base in their 9-8 walk-off win over the New Market Rebels.
