Trophy for Lowcountry Boil Bowl Unveiled Ahead of Saturday's Game

CHARLESTON – The trophy for the "Lowcountry Boil Bowl" has officially been unveiled by Charleston Southern and The Citadel ahead of this Saturday's season opening game. The Buccaneers play host to the Bulldogs in the 14th ever-matchup between the two schools which is slated for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff inside Buccaneer Field on August 31.

The trophy was designed and produced by Cowart Awards out of Greenville, South Carolina. The group was identified early in the design process with their reputation as one of the premier companies in the state in sport trophy production. Raji Ward, a project manager at the company, served as one of the leads on the production of the award.

"The entire Team at Cowart Awards were thrilled and excited to collaborate with the Athletic Staffs of both Charleston Southern University and The Citadel on the Lowcountry Boil Bowl Rivalry Game trophy. Throughout the unique design and production phase of the project, our Team went above and beyond to achieve the ultimate goal of our business which is to 'wow' the customer and see the end result exceed their expectations," shared Ward. "Thanks to CSU and The Citadel for allowing Cowart Awards to Partner together with both Institutions to bring the 'Lowcountry Boil Bowl' Rivalry game to life and Award the winning Team with a trophy worthy of displaying on their campuses for years to come."

The trophy features a metal pot at the top which will be filled to the brim with lowcountry boil to be awarded to the winning team following Saturday's matchup. Additionally, it has official Riddell mini helmets of each school which are adorned with the true decals and coloring of each program. At the bottom the all-time series history between the two programs is engraved.

"We are super excited to be playing for the inaugural Lowcountry Boil Bowl trophy," said Head Coach Gabe Giardina. "Obviously it is beautiful and representative of both teams and the rivalry. This will really allow the fans, alumni and media to rally around it and make this game even more exciting than it already is!"

"The Lowcountry Boil Bowl is a wonderful addition to an already great rivalry between our two institutions," said Jeff Barber Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics. "This game means a great deal to the alumni, students and fans of both schools and I look forward to many more in the years ahead!"
