5 Things to Know

1. Charleston Southern (1-1) is looking for their second win of the season traveling to play the Richmond Spiders (0-2) on Saturday afternoon at E. Claiborne Robins Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the game to be available live on Flosports.

2. Saturday's matchup between Charleston Southern and Richmond will be the first time the two programs have faced off. The Bucs look to continue to add to the win column in a hostile environment of Richmond, Virginia. Last time out, the Spiders fell to Wofford by a final score of 26-19 in Richmond at Robins Stadium.

3. The Bucs have been handing the keys to the offense to graduate transfer Rob McCoy Jr from Willingboro, N.J. He has completed 66.7 percent (32-48) of his pass attempts this season for a total of 433 yards and three touchdowns. During the season opener against The Citadel he threw for 290 yards, the most passing yards by a CSU quarterback since the 2022 season opener.

4. For the Bucs, there are three key impact players to watch in Saturday's contest. A pair of them earned conference weekly honors. The first would be Tylan Hollis who was named co-defensive player of the week and Gilbert Brown who was chosen as special teams' player of the week. Noah Jennings who had 97 yards and two touchdowns against Furman last week is another weapon of the Bucs offense that will be looked at continually.

5. The 2024 campaign is the second for head coach Gabe Giardina at Charleston Southern where his record is 5-8. He holds an overall record of 42-25 as a Head Coach including his six seasons at Albany State. This is his third stint at Charleston Southern as he was at CSU from 2008-2011 and 2013-2016.
