Men's Cross Country Sweeps Big South Weekly Awards for Second Time of 2025

CHARLESTON – The Big South Conference announced the winners for the men's cross country weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon with a pair of Buccaneers sweeping the awards. Martin Iriondo won the Runner of the Week while Andrew Cleland claimed it for the second time this season.
 
This past Friday, Charleston Southern traveled to the University of Missouri to take part in the Gans Creek Challenge. As a squad, the men claimed 7th in their heat at the event. The Bucs were led to the finish line by Iriondo who was 30th overall in the field with his time of 24:13.7 marking a personal best. Cleland raced in a different heat and placed in 39th with a time of 26:01.5 in his first career collegiate 8K.
 
This is the second time this fall the Bucs have swept the awards this season and marks back-to-back meets that they have swept the accolades. Charleston Southern will be back in action on Friday, October 3 as they will compete in the ECU Pirate Invitational with East Carolina to serve as the hosts.
