CHARLESTON – Friday evening, Charleston Southern volleyball hosted the Radford Highlanders in the Buc Dome. The Bucs and Highlanders met back in October in Virginia, resulting in a 3-1 loss for CSU. In Friday's rematch, the VolleyBucs showcased their improvement with a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-18, 25-21).
The match's first point would be scored by Radford's Kennedy Robinson who would eventually be the leading Highlander in the kill column with 8. Three of the next five points in set one would not only be scored by Buccaneers, but three of them would be Skylar Yates' service aces. Yates would end the three-setter with four aces, tying the record for the all-time career leader from the service line in Charleston Southern history. A 4-0 run would end the match's first frame in favor of the home-team Buccaneers (25-15).
CSU's momentum would carry over to set two with a lead-off 4-0 run. Down 8-7, the Bucs would rattle off a four-point stretch to obtain a lead they would never surrender again in set two – winning their second set of the day 25-18.
Although after the match's first six points she would only record one more service ace, Skylar Yates recorded double-digits in the kill column for the 17th time through 26 matches so far this season. One of those kills began set number three, a set she would put down five kills in, in favor of the VolleyBucs. A real stand-out performer in the night's third set was fellow senior, Sophia Kluska. Kluska finished the victory with 10 kills of her own – continuing the balanced offensive attack the Bucs have been displaying over the past several weeks of Big South play. One of Kluska's ten kills would end the match 25-21 giving Head Coach Carry Brown's VolleyBucs their 15th win of the 2025 season.
