LYNCHBURG, VA - In cold conditions, the Charleston Southern softball team lost their first contest of the Liberty Softball Classic to the Liberty Flames by a 12-0 score in five innings on Friday afternoon.
The Buccaneers (3-7) were held to just three hits and fell behind early, as Liberty (9-3) scored four runs in the first inning off of two Charleston Southern errors and a two-run home run. Brenna Conely lasted 1.0+ innings allowing six runs (5 ER) on four hits while walking three batters. She fell to 1-1 on the season.
With a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Flames added five more runs, including a three-run home run to make it 12-0.
Kinsey Clopton followed Conley in relief, going 3.0 innings and allowing six runs on five hits, five walks and two strikeouts. Blakely Kingsmore was 2 for 2 at the plate for the Buccaneers.

Day two of the Liberty Softball Classic is tomorrow, as the Buccaneers will play two games tomorrow starting with an 11:00 AM first pitch against Saint Joseph's followed by a battle with Hofstra at 1:00 PM.
