Bucs Sweep Kennesaw State to Complete Perfect Weekend on Saturday

CHARLESTON – The Buccaneers wrapped up an undefeated weekend on Saturday afternoon, taking down Kennesaw State by a final score of 4-0. The victory completes a perfect weekend for CSU as they won against Miami of Ohio on Friday afternoon.

Charleston Southern claimed the doubles point for the first time since defeating Lees-McRae back on February 9. The Owls did win on the first court to be completed, court #3, but the Bucs prevailed on each of the others to get the opening point. Kassandra Di Staulo and Marina Skegro won 6-2 on court #2 with Noa Boyd and Amila Jusufbegovic also winning by a 6-2 scoreline but from the topflight.

In singles, the Bucs got out to a tremendous start in those matches, claiming the first set in five of them. Boyd got the first singles point of the day, taking it by opponent retirement with her leading at the time with the score at 6-2, 3-2.

Charleston Southern went on to claim the other two matches by straight sets with Brenda Yoris winning hers on court #5 6-3, 7-5 followed by Skegro at #2 by 7-5, 7-5. Skegro's result proved to be the match clincher as this was the team's fourth point of the day.

The other matches went unfinished with CSU has the upper hand in each of them. Emmie Moore was leading 6-3, 5-5 on court #1, Jusufbegovic was up 7-5, 6-5 at #4 and Di Staulo led 4-6, 6-1, 2-1.

The Buccaneers will return to the courts on Monday to continue a stretch of six home matches within a span of eight days. Monday's match will feature Charleston Southern hosting Gardner-Webb in the first Big South match of the whole league.
