CHARLESTON – The Charleston Southern football team completed their spring ball on Saturday afternoon with the Blue vs Gold Spring Game. The Blue Team was led by Defensive Coordinator Nick Reveiz and quarterbacks Jared Echols and Lek Powell who pushed the squad to a 10-6 victory over the Gold Team.
 
The 15^th and final practice started at 11:00 a.m. on Buccaneer Field with the team having about 40 minutes to warm up and get loose ahead of the scrimmage. They had each team get four possessions with every quarterback getting to lead their squads for two possessions.
 
Jared Echols (R-Fr.) led the blue team to the first score of the day for either team. He connected with freshman midyear enrollee, Laden Beckwith on a crossing route in the endzone for a touchdown. Zach Gordon, a transfer kicker from Western New Mexico, converted on the PAT to give them a 7-0 lead.
 
On the final possession of the day for the gold team, Braxton Scott (R-Fr.) led them down the field for a score of their own, but a missed PAT did not allow for the game to get tied up. Scott found redshirt-senior Chris Rhone in the corner of the endzone for the touchdown.
 
Th blue team added three points on the final possession of the day with a field goal by Gordon from 27 yards out to put an exclamation point on their win.
 
Zolten Osborne took the first and third drives for the Gold Team and flashed the same electricity that has dazzled people from around the Lowcountry for the past half decade. He nearly connected with Chris Rhone on the opening possession on a deep ball, but was dropped, but showed promise to an offense looking for explosive plays in 2025.
 
Also on that opening possession, the running game was able to quickly find its footing with Tyson Greenwade finding holes and gaps for 10+ yard scampers multiple times. Isaiah Gordon, Ke'Marion Baldwin and Brandon Musch all got steady doses throughout the game.
 
The Seth Strickland newly installed offense was on full display with the group showcasing that they have been able to adjust well to the new system. The high tempo system was able to keep the Nick Reveiz defense guessing and move the ball down the field throughout the day, even if they were not able to come away with points.
 
The defense had a lot of new faces around it as all four starters on the secondary graduated or transferred. The new guys held their own as they have been learning the new system. This group included Avery Dixon, Anthony Carter, Tyler Smith, Kiemond Emilien, Canii Tucker and Jayden Hancock. Additionally, the new members on the defensive line were able to show why they were added to the roster with the group including Malik McKenzie, Hugo Gil, Charles Atkins.
