GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Charleston Southern Men's Track and Field sent a group of their throwers to compete in the Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Florida.
On the opening day,
Landry Polk and
Aaron Pierce threw in the javelin. Pierce had a best mark of the day of 60.65m (198' 11") while Polk went for a personal best of 57.53m (188' 9"). The throw still has him at second in school history for the event, but he now draws closer to breaking into the top two.
On the second day,
Michael Calhoun,
Odin Ferency and
Kasey Brown all threw in the shot put and the discus. Ferency had the best mark among the squad in the discus with a 42.81m (140' 5"). Calhoun had the top mark of the squad in the shot put and claimed fourth in the field with his 17.44m (57' 2.75"). Ferency also threw well in the event with a 15.75m (51.25").
Next weekend, the Buccaneers will be heading north on I-26 to Columbia for the Gamecock Invite on Saturday, April 12.
