Bucs Drop Home Finale to The Citadel on Tuesday Evening

Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Southern (26-19) dropped the rubber match of a three-game series with crosstown rival The Citadel (28-23) by a score of 14-6 on Tuesday at Nielsen Field.
 
The Citadel took an early lead off of Travis Elliott's three-run home run in the first inning. But Aiden McAskie returned fire in the bottom of the inning with a three-run home run that tied the game. The Bulldogs dialed up the long ball again in the third inning as Garrett Fulmer homered drive in two and put The Citadel ahead again. The Bucs got one back in the bottom of the third after doubles from Lucas Pringle and Kaiden Smith produced a run.
 
Citadel used big innings in the fourth and fifth innings, plating four runs in each frame, to extend their lead. Chandler Tuupo's homer in the fifth inning chipped into the lead. In the sixth inning, The Bucs got hits from Gavin Bogdanchik, Blake Edgemon, and Kane Collins to plate another run.
 
Lew Rice hit his fourth home run of the season in the ninth inning. Jack Mausser drove in his third run of the season for the Bucs' second run of the inning.
 
Oliver Wood (4-0) got the win for The Citadel. He pitched five innings and allowed four runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Camden Chalfant (4-4) took the loss for CSU, throwing 1.2 innings and allowing two earned runs and striking out three.
 
The Bucs close out the regular season this weekend at Gardner Webb. The series kicks off Thursday at 6:00pm in Boiling Springs and will be streamed on ESPN+.
