Two Bucs Earn Big South Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern forward Jenéa Knight (Ottawa, Ontario) has been named the Big South Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while midfielder Hailey Swenson (Newnan, Ga.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week. for matches played Sept. 8-14, it was announced today.

Knight scored two goals in a 13-minute span of the second half to lead Charleston Southern to a 4-2 victory over The Citadel on Thursday. The redshirt senior scored unassisted in the 61st minute to give the Buccaneers a 2-1 lead and later added the game-winner in the 74th minute to help secure CSU's first win of the season. Knight converted both of her shots in 73 minutes of action.

Swenson recorded a goal and an assist in Charleston Southern's 4-2 win over crosstown rival The Citadel. The freshman netted her first career goal just before halftime to tie the match, then added her first career assist on Knight's game-winner in the 74th minute. Swenson's goal came on her only shot as she played all 90 minutes.

Also nominated for Offensive Player of the Week: Meghan Piazza (Longwood) and Paige Armstrong (USC Upstate).

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Samantha Fischer (Longwood), Maddie Smith (USC Upstate) and Lindsay Sheets (Winthrop).
