CHARLESTON – Tuesday afternoon, Charleston Southern would complete their final non-conference match of the 2025 season, sweeping the North Carolina Central Eagles in straight sets (25-11, 25-13, 25-16).
Tuesday marked the 11th all-time meeting between Charleston Southern and the North Carolina Central Eagles, with CSU improving its series record to 10-1 against the Durham-based program.
The match opened with back-to-back kills from CSU's Sophia Kluska, who ranks fifth on the team in that category. The Eagles never managed to score more than two consecutive points in the set, while multiple scoring runs by the Bucs propelled them to a commanding 25-11 win in the opener.
Charleston Southern came out firing in the second set, launching an 8-0 run to start. Two additional 5-0 runs later in the frame extended their lead even further, putting the set out of reach for NCCU. Emmy Rollins, CSU's leading scorer of the night, capped the set with a kill, sealing a 25-13 victory for the Bucs.
Set three saw NCCU take an early 4-2 lead, but a quick three-point swing from CSU flipped the momentum. The Eagles never regained control, and the Buccaneers cruised to a 25-16 win to complete the sweep. With the victory, CSU improves to 4-1 at home and 9-5 overall on the season.
