CHARLESTON — Tuesday afternoon, the Big South Conference announced the first Women's Tennis Player of the Week Award of the 2026 Spring season, Charleston Southern's Carlota Farrés Carreter.
On opening day of the 2026 season, against No. 23–ranked Florida, Farrés secured the first singles victory of her collegiate career. Competing on the #3 court, she defeated the Gators' Brooke Black in a hard-fought match, closing out a 10–5 third-set tiebreak. On Sunday morning against another SEC opponent, Farrés continued her strong form on South Carolina's #3 singles court, claiming the opening set in convincing fashion, 6–1, before the match went unfinished. In doubles action, Farres teamed with Big South Preseason Player of the Year Marina Skegro for a competitive matchup against the Gamecocks' #1 pairing, slightly trailing 5–3, before the match was abandoned. The duo also showed resilience against Florida's #1 doubles team, winning two games before the match was left unfinished.
The TennisBucs won't suit up again until January 31st, when they host the Wofford Terriers in Charleston.
