CLINTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team turned in a historic offensive performance Friday night, defeating Presbyterian 77-73 inside the Templeton Center behind elite efficiency and milestone individual efforts.
 
The Buccaneers shot 60.0 percent from the field, tying the highest team field goal percentage in a single game in program history as CSU earned its fourth Big South win of the season.
 
Charleston Southern set the tone early, opening the game by hitting seven of its first 11 shots. The Buccaneers built momentum through balanced scoring and strong interior touches, taking an 18-17 lead after one. CSU surged in the second quarter, outscoring the Blue Hose 22-20 while continuing to shoot at a high clip. Nevaeh Jones was flawless offensively, converting all three of her first-half shot attempts.
 
Presbyterian responded coming out of the break, briefly reclaiming the lead. Charleston Southern remained composed, matching the Blue Hose possession-for-possession tied at 53 heading into the fourth after a 16-13 Presbyterian edge in the quarter. The Buccaneers delivered their strongest stretch in the final 10 minutes, scoring 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting to close out the win. Tyonna Bailey caught fire and scored 14 of her 16 points in the period to help secure the 77-73 road victory.

The Buccaneers added 18 assists on 27 made field goals and converted 17-of-23 (73.9%) from the free-throw line. CSU held advantages in points in the paint (36-32) and bench scoring (33-11).

Tyonna Bailey put the team on her back in the fourth quarter. A tied game heading into the fourth, Bailey caught fire scoring 14 of her team-high 16 points in the period.

  • Nevaeh Jones set career highs with 15 points and seven blocks, with the block total tied for the most in a single game in program history.
