Bailey’s 25 Points Not Enough as Bucs Fall to High Point at Home

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell 87-66 to Big South-leading High Point on Wednesday night inside the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
 
Tyonna Bailey led all scorers with 25 points, accounting for more than a third of CSU's offense while shooting 9-for-22 from the field and 3-for-8 from three-point range. The Buccaneers connected on 10 three-pointers and scored at least 16 points in each of the final three quarters, but High Point's consistent scoring and perimeter efficiency prevented CSU from closing the gap.
 
High Point opened the game with an early scoring surge, building a double-digit advantage behind strong shooting. CSU was limited to nine points on 4-for-20 shooting in the opening frame as the Panthers jumped out to a 26-9 lead.
 
Charleston Southern found more rhythm offensively in the second quarter, scoring 16 points behind Bailey's scoring presence. High Point countered with 19 points of its own, sending the teams into halftime with the Panthers holding a 45-25 lead.
 
The Buccaneers delivered their strongest offensive stretch of the game, scoring 24 points in the third quarter while knocking down four three-pointers. Bailey continued to lead the charge, but High Point answered with 26 points, keeping the margin intact heading into the final period.
 
CSU continued to compete in the final period, adding 17 points, but High Point closed the game by shooting 35.7 percent in the quarter and maintaining its double-digit advantage to secure the road win.

High Point shot 46.3 percent overall and knocked down 14 three-pointers, using consistent perimeter shooting to maintain control throughout the contest.

Turning Point
High Point's early offensive surge in the first quarter created a double-digit lead that CSU was unable to erase. The Panthers' ability to match CSU's third-quarter output point-for-point prevented the Buccaneers from turning momentum into a late-game push.
