CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston Southern softball team hosted App State in a midweek match up on Wednesday night, falling to the Mountaineers 10-0.
The Mountaineers took an early lead with a home run in the top of the first inning. They extended their lead 3-0 with a two run homer in the bottom of the third.
Lorenzza Marcacci recorded the Buccaneers' first hit of the game in the third inning.
Emma Villaescusa reached on a bunt, moving Marcacci to scoring position.
Jordyn Dimond then singled to right field to load the bases with one out, but the Bucs were unable to convert.
App State pulled away scoring three in the fourth and four in the fifth, taking a 10-0 advantage.
Kinsey Clopton started in the circle for the Buccaneers, throwing 3.1 innings allowing three runs with two strikeouts.
Brenna Conley threw 0.2 innings allowing one run.
Gianna Deluco relieved Conley in the fifth, throwing one inning allowing three runs with one strikeout.
UP NEXT
The Bucs will open conference play on the road this weekend in Boiling Springs, NC against Gardner-Webb. Charleston Southern will play on Friday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Saturday's games will be streamed on ESPN+.
