CHARLESTON – On Thursday morning, the Charleston Southern Women's Tennis program hosted the UNC Greensboro Spartans. CSU picked up four singles points, securing the 4-1 victory.
The Buccaneers jumped out early in singles action and quickly built momentum as several courts finished in Charleston Southern's favor. CSU secured wins on courts five, four, three, and two, demonstrating depth throughout the lineup.
On court five, Amike Botha opened the scoring for the Bucs with a solid straight-set victory over Sydney Bly, 6-3, 7-5. Shortly after, Carle Botha added another point on court four, defeating Ivet Sala-Sanchez 6-4, 6-3 to extend the Charleston Southern advantage.
The momentum continued on court three, where Carlota Farres Carreter battled through a competitive match to earn a 7-5, 6-4 win over Lauren Thomson. Brenda Yoris followed with one of the most hard-fought matches of the day on court two, rallying after dropping the first set to defeat Sara Kostic 3-6, 6-4, 5-3.
One match did not reach completion. Marina Skegro was leading Sophia Cedeno late in the third set, 6-3, 6-7, 2-0, when play concluded, while Camila Molina Barranco was CSU's one loss of day – falling on court six to Kayley Bushnell, 6-1, 6-2.
