CONWAY, SC - The Charleston Southern softball team hit the road Tuesday afternoon for a midweek match up against Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, falling 11-3.
Coastal Carolina jumped out to an early lead, plating four runs in the opening inning.
The Bucs threatened in the second, as Carsten Sandvig doubled to center field and Charlee Yourman followed with a single, but Charleston Southern was unable to capitalize.
The Chanticleers added to their lead in the bottom half of the inning, extending the margin to 7-0.
Blakley Kingsmore tripled in the fourth and Sandvig followed, drawing a walk. Maddie Lee reached on an error that brought Kingsmore in to score. Lorenzza Marcacci singled to right field, giving Sandvig the go ahead to score. Cadence Walding reached on an error that brought Lee home, cutting the Bucs deficit 7-3.
In the fifth, Jordyn Dimond reached on an error before Harper Schoeneweis singled to right field, but the Bucs were unable to convert.
Coastal Carolina answered with three more runs in the fifth to secure the game.
