CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston Southern softball team hosted Bowling Green for the final game of the series on Saturday afternoon. Despite matching the Falcons in hits, the Bucs fell 8-0.
Emma Smith recorded the Bucs' first hit of the game to center field in the first inning but was left on base.
Harper Schoeneweis led things off in the second with a single through the left side. A sacrifice bunt from
Lorenzza Marcacci moved Schoeneweis to scoring position, but the Bucs were unable to bring her home.
In the third,
Jordyn Dimond singled to right field, though Charleston Southern was not able to score.
Schoeneweis added another base hit in the fourth and stole second before being caught trying to advance to third. Marcacci followed with a single to right field, and
Maddie Lee entered as a pinch runner, but the Bucs were unable to plate a run.
The Buccaneers threatened again in the fifth.
Linley Jones led off with a single, and Dimond kept things going with a single to center field, moving Jones to scoring position.
Charlee Yourman's sacrifice fly advanced Jones and Dimond but both runners were left stranded.
Carsten Sandvig doubled to center field to start the sixth but was unable to score.
Dimond reached in the seventh with the first walk issued by the Falcons' pitching staff all weekend, though the Bucs could not convert the opportunity.Â
Brenna Conley started in the circle for Charleston Southern, throwing three innings and allowing two runs.
Gianna Deluco worked 3.2 innings in relief allowing three runs with one strikeout.
Kinsey Clopton closed out the game, tossing 0.1 innings allowing two runs.
