Von Kapff Throws Complete Game Shutout to Claim Series Opener from Presbyterian

CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern claimed the series opener over Presbyterian on Thursday night by a final score of 7-0. The Bucs' Titus Von Kapff threw a complete game shutout, the first by a Charleston Southern pitcher since RJ Petit on March 5, 2021, against Longwood. Additionally, it marks the first shutout victory for CSU since May of 2024.

The Buccaneers tallied their first run of the game in the bottom of the first off a single through the right side by Mason Reising that scored Kain Collins.

Later in the contest, Lucas Pringle had an RBI off an outfield single that brought Alex Marot home to begin a four-run inning. Ethan Reader had a sacrifice fly to score Pringle and push the score to 3-0. Blake Edgmon capped off the inning with a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left field.

In the fifth, Pringle and Reader each picked up another RBI off singles pushing the scoreline to 7-0 in favor of the Bucs.

On the mound, Von Kapff was the lone pitcher used for the Bucs, throwing all nine innings. He allowed six hits and two walks while striking out five batters from the Blue Hose.

At the plate, they compiled 11 hits, two walks and two hit by pitches. Pringle, Reader and Edgmon led the squad with two hits and two RBIs apiece with five others adding one.

Charleston Southern will return to Nielsen Field @ CSU Ballpark Friday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. in the second game of the series against Presbyterian with the action to be available live on ESPN+.
