CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern volleyball's Brynn Minter and Presley Morris were recognized by the Big South Conference on Monday, as Minter was named the league's Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive time and Morris earned Libero of the Week honors following a three-match weekend at the Mercer Invitational.
The weekly honors reflect a strong weekend for the Buccaneers, who went 2-1 in Macon and improved to 8-5 on the season. CSU's eight non-conference victories mark the program's best start since 2019 and the best non-conference performance of Head Coach Carry Brown's tenure.
Minter continued her impressive freshman campaign by recording 44 kills, 30 digs, three service aces and two blocks across 11 sets during the three-match stretch. She averaged 4.00 kills and 4.36 points per set while hitting .269 for the weekend.
The freshman outside hitter opened the weekend with 11 kills and eight digs before producing one of her strongest performances of the season against Montana State. Minter recorded 18 kills on .412 hitting, added 11 digs, three aces and a block while finishing with 21.5 points in CSU's 3-1 victory over the MSU Bobcats.
Minter finished the weekend with 15 kills and 11 digs against Mercer. Her 44 kills ranked among the top totals in the Big South during the award period, while her 4.00 kills per set and 4.36 points per set placed her among the conference leaders in both categories.
The award marks Minter's second-consecutive Big South Freshman of the Week honor of the season after she previously earned the conference's Freshman of the Week and Player of the Week awards last week.
Morris anchored the Buccaneers defensively throughout the weekend, totaling 51 digs and seven aces in 11 sets. She averaged 4.64 digs per set and 0.64 aces per set, with both marks ranking third in the Big South during the award period.
Morris began the weekend with 12 digs before delivering a career performance against Montana State. The libero collected 16 digs and six service aces in CSU's 3-1 comeback victory, helping the Buccaneers overcome a first-set loss by winning each of the final three.
She closed the weekend with a team-high 23 digs and an ace in CSU's final victory, giving her double-digit digs in all three matches. Morris also contributed seven assists across the three matches while committing just one reception error.
With non-conference play now complete, the Buccaneers now turn their attention to Big South Conference play. They'll travel to Clinton, South Carolina for a 6:00 PM match with the Presbyterian Blue Hose.
