High School: Burns came to the Bucs by way of Gainesville, Va., where she lined up at both Stonewall Jackson High School under Coach Diana Martinez, and the PSPA Rams under Coaches Jason and Mike Harris. A 5-6 guard, Burns averaged 12.3 points, eight rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.2 steals per game, while shooting 78% from the free throw line. Burns completed the season with four double-doubles and a triple-double on the court, finishing with career stats of 759 points, 497 rebounds, 187 assists and 210 steals.
She was a four year letter-winner and three year starter on the squad, serving as team captain in both her junior and senior seasons. She was a three-time All-Conference selection, leading the team to three consecutive District Championships and two Regional Championships. In 2015, Burns led Stonewall Jackson to the State Championship game. She was also selected to the 2015 Buffalo Wild Wings Roundball Classic All-Star Game and the 695 Hoops 2015 Senior Showcase All-Star Game. Throughout her high school career, she led her team to a combined 93-16 overall record.
In addition to basketball, Burns was a multi-sport athlete also competing on the volleyball team. Athleticism runs in her family as her mother, Michelle, ran track at Oklahoma State, while her father Keith played on the OSU football team. Her sister, Danielle, is a current member of the Fordham women''s basketball team.
