2012 (So.): Saw action in all 34 matches and played 120 sets for Charleston Southern as a sophomore, lining up as the primary libero...Was one of four players to play at least 120 sets for the Bucs...Led the team with 427 digs on the season, averaging 3.56 digs per set...Finished ninth in the Big South in digs per set...Added seven kills and 22 set assists...Finished fourth on the team with 19 service aces...Had four matches with at least 20 digs, including a season-high 24 coming on Oct. 5 vs. Coastal Carolina...23 matches with double-digit digs.
2011 (Fr.): Saw action in 106 sets and all 30 matches as a freshman for CSU in 2011…Was one of four players to play in all 30 matches…Was fourth on the team with 41 set assists on the season…Was third on the team with 19 service aces…Led the team with 422 digs on the season, finishing seventh in the Big South with 3.98 digs per set…Finished the season with 24 double-digit dig efforts, including five with 20+ digs…Recorded a season high 24 digs on Sept. 3 at Wake Forest.
High School: Competed at Middletown HS in Middletown, Md., where she was coached by Aubrey Pfau. As a sophomore, she was named the team’s offensive player. In 2009, she earned Middletown’s most valuable player and defensive player of the year awards. Higginbothem has also earned First Team honors at the County, League, and Area levels. She played club with Metro American, under coach Silvia Johnson. Her club posted a 17-1 record during the 2009-10 season, during which Higginbothem was the captain and starting libero. The team qualified for nationals, winning Regionals. The Middletown, Md., native also competed in swimming during high school, making the state meet in 2010. She is an AP scholar with honor and a member of National Honor Society, and was a semifinalist for Maryland Distinguished Scholar.
