High School: Malone was named as the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year, 2010 Most Improved Player and 2011 Team Captain at Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, Ariz.  The Falcons posted a perfect 14-0 divisional record in 2010, winning their second straight region championship and reaching the semifinals of the Arizona state tournament.
