JC Cavin

JC Cavin enters his third season on staff at Charleston Southern as the video coordinator after graduating from CSU in 2018. Cavin also recently finished his Master's program at CSU graduating in the spring of 2020. Cavin also provided veteran leadership for CSU as a player in 2017-18, after transferring from Columbia International.

In his role, Cavin handles the Bucs’ video scouting efforts and lends a hand in operating all facets of the program.

The 2019-20 season, Cavin's second on staff, saw plenty of highs including a 68-60 win over Missouri from the SEC as well as junior guard Phlandrous Fleming Jr. winning Big South Defensive Player of the Year honors. Despite a smaller roation and injuries down the stretch, the Bucs made another run to the Big South Conference Tournament quarterfinals coming within minutes of knocking off the top-seed and host Radford.

CSU made their first postseason appearance since an NIT bid in 2015 during Cavin's second season on the sideline as they competed in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) defeating Florida Atlantic before eventually falling to Big South foe Hampton. The Bucs also saw another late-season Big South surge finishing the conference slate 9-7 overall for the No. 6 seed in the tournament before upending No. 3 Winthrop and making a semifinals appearance.

Cavin started once and appeared in nine games in 2017-18 for a CSU team that surged late in the season, winning eight of its final 11 games. The Greenville, S.C., product enjoyed three terrific seasons at Columbia International, capping his career among the program’s all-time leaders in scoring, assists, rebounds and steals.Â
