Carrie Gomez joined the CSU athletic department in August 2022 as the Associate Athletic Director for Academics. In May of 2024, she was elevated to the title of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics/SWA Also when she joined, she took the role of Senior Woman Administrator for the Buccaneers. In addition to these, she is the school's ADID and SAAC advisor.
Since joining Charleston Southern in the athletic department, she has overseen three constitutive years of record-setting overall department GPA. During this timeframe of its best years in the classroom, they had a 3.23 in 2022-2023 followed by a 3.25 in 2023-2024 and most recently a 3.37 in 2024-2025, smashing the previous records.
Prior to joining the athletic department, Gomez was an enrollment specialist with Charleston Southern starting in 2020. In her role, she reviewed and approved candidates for online admissions as well as helped to process student applicants through the admissions pipeline, ensuring an on-time matriculation process.
Also, in her career she has worked at Palm Beach Atlantic University as an admissions counselor for the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy from 2009-2014. Gomez oversaw student recruitment and the processing of the applications for the department. While she was at Palm Beach Atlantic, she received the “Lead by Example” award and the “Diamond Heart” award. In addition to these experiences, she spent four years as a branch administrator with The Mergis Group of Spherion Corporation LLC.
Gomez received her bachelors in government administration of justice in 2005 from Liberty University. In 2009, she completed her MBA with Liberty University as well. Gomez has a Certificate of Completion from the Word of Life Bible Institute that she finished in 1999.
Carrie and her husband Jose, the Charleston Southern Women’s Soccer Head Coach, have three children - Selah, Royce, and Emery.
