CHARLESTON, S.C. - Andrew White pitched his final collegiate game for the Charleston Southern baseball team as the Buccaneers fell 16-11 in the season finale with High Point University Saturday evening at CSU Ballpark.

White and fellow senior Scotty Radabaugh were both honored prior to the start of the contest. Rain began to pour during the ceremony, and the skies opened up directly following the presentation.

The game was postponed for a little more than an hour, and it was later called after the eighth inning due to lightning and rain in the Charleston area.

High Point (29-27, 15-12 Big South) belted out 18 hits in the contest, while committing three errors. CSU (17-38, 6-20 Big South) recorded 12 hits and four errors.

The two clubs were shaky in the first inning, but they both got it going with four runs each in the second.

Steve Antolik and Max Fulginiti led off the HPU second with hits, and Antolik scored on a groundout from Kyle Mahoney. Fulginiti scored on a wild pitch, and Murray White IV and Drew Geissinger also scored in the frame.

Jesse Cadenhead doubled in the bottom half of the frame to jumpstart the Buccaneer offense. Harrison Wilkins attempted to sacrifice bunt, but HPU committed an error to put two aboard with no outs. Cadenhead scored on a wild pitch, and later Brandon McKinney blasted a three-run home run over the right-field wall to tie the game.

Nate Roberts scored in the third and Geissinger hit a solo home run in the fourth to give the road squad a 6-4 advantage.

Brantley Meier walked and scored on a Tom Burkett single in the bottom of the fourth, but the Panthers were able to get that run back in the top of the fifth with a home run from Matt Gantner.

Charleston Southern blew the game wide open with a five-spot in the fifth, giving the home club a 10-7 lead.

Walt Quattlebaum led off the frame with his fifth home run of the 2010 campaign. Cadenhead singled and Wilkins again reached on a sacrifice attempt that was botched by High Point. Bentley Christmas tried to sacrifice himself, too, but he reached first base without a throw and was credited with a single to load the bases.

Jaren Sustar walked up to the plate and drove a 1-2 count to the wall in left-center field, clearing the bases. He later scored on a sacrifice fly from Meier.

The Panthers cut into the lead with a run in the sixth and took a 14-10 lead with six runs in the seventh. Wilkins hit his second-career home run and the second in as many days in the bottom of the seventh, but High Point tacked on two more in the eighth and CSU could not answer.

The ninth inning got underway, but lightning in the area and showers later in the evening caused the game to be called after eight frames.

White (1-7) pitched 6 2/3 innings in his final collegiate appearance. He allowed 11 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits, while striking out six and walking just one. Corey Deighan relieved White and was only able to record one out. He was tagged with three unearned runs on three hits. Patrick Dolan pitched the eighth and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.

Meier added to his school record for hits in a single season with a 2-for-3 effort. He ended 2010 with 84 hits, and he also drove home a run and scored once. Burkett, Quattlebaum and Cadenhead all had two hits. Sustar set a career high with three RBI, and McKinney tied his career high with three runs batted in. Wilkins scored a career-high three times.

Al Yevoli lasted just four innings after starting for High Point. He allowed 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, while striking out seven and walking two. Jared Avidon (3-1) earned the win after allowing just one run and two hits in the final four innings.

Fulginiti and Geissinger each had three hits, and Geissinger drove home five runs. He also led HPU with his three runs scored.

The Buccaneers' season comes to an end with the blue and gold winning one more game than last season.
