Box Score
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The CSU baseball team will look to end a
two-game skid when they travel to Savannah State for a 2 p.m.
match up with the Tigers on Tuesday at Tiger Field.
The Bucs vs. The Tigers
CSU will face Savannah State in second game of the
home-and-home series. CSU took the first game by a score of 5-3
back on March 1, with Nick Chinners going 3-of-4 with a run and 2
RBI and Brantley Meier going 2-for-5 with two runs. The Bucs lead
the Tigers 12-6 all-time, including two wins from the 2010 season.
In 2010, Brantley Meier's 3 hits led CSU past the Tigers by a score
of 9-1 in Charleston on March 17. The Bucs then took a 12-6 win on
March 23 at Tiger Field, with three different players hitting home
runs.
Sustar's Superb Effort
Sophomore Jaren Sustar continued to make a case for player
of the week honors with another superb effort in the team's opening
game against Fordham. Just one game after hitting a grand slam,
Sustar had four sac bunts to help lead the Bucs to a 4-3 win over
the Rams. His mark tied an NCAA single-game record, the third
time a NCAA baseball player has had four sac bunts in a game. For
Sustar, three of the four resulted in runs.
Hagaman Steps Up
Making just his fifth appearance of the season, freshman
Zach Hagaman is making his presence known. In Saturday's 11-2 win
over Fordham, Hagaman had his first collegiate hit. However, this
wasn't just any hit - it was a two run homer that brought home both
himself and Walt Quattlebaum and gave the Bucs a 6-2 lead over the
Rams.
Sustar's Grand Slam
Sophomore Jaren Sustar had not hit a home run in the past
36 games, but his first career homer on March 9 vs. USC Upstate,
Sustar hit a grand slam in the second inning.
