CHARLESTON, S.C. - A pair of home runs helped the Rider Broncs (5-7) past the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (5-11) in the final match up of a three-games series on Sunday afternoon at CSU Ballpark. The Broncs won two of the three games over the weekend.

Austin Weekley (1-2) took the loss for the Buccaneers, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in five innings.

Chase Shelton and Brian Welch each collected two hits for the CSU offense, while Jaren Sustar had the team's lone RBI. The Bucs had eight hits on the day.

Kurt Sowa (2-1) got the win for the Broncs, throwing seven scoreless innings and striking out six CSU batters. Sean Kuberiet and Tyler Smith combined for the final 2.0 innings, with Kuberiet giving up one unearned run and Smith striking out three.

After three scoreless innings, Rider got on the board on a solo homer by Greg Fazio. An inning later, Brandon Cotton belted a three-run homer for a 4-0 lead.

Cotton picked up a fourth RBI in the sixth, drawing a bases loaded walk to score Fazio.

Attempting to rally in the bottom of the eighth, CSU's Robbie Streett doubled down the left field line with Blake Hunt reaching on an error immediately following. Bobby Ison followed with a single to center field, loading the bases with no outs. Streett scored on Sustar's sac fly.

The Bucs had another chance in the bottom of the ninth after Welch singled to open the inning. With two outs, Drew Woodall singled to left but Ison ended the game with a fielder's choice groundout.

CSU will travel to Columbia to take on two-time National Champion and second-ranked South Carolina on Tuesday evening. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium.
