CLINTON, S.C. - Bobby Ison recorded his second five-hit performance of the season but it wasn't enough as Presbyterian (18-22, 6-9) topped Charleston Southern (16-27, 7-8) by a final score of 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at PC Baseball Complex.

The Buccaneers let too many opportunities squander in the ball game, leaving 12 runners on base. There were five different occasions where the Bucs had a runner on third with less than two outs, but only cashed in one of those five.

Right handed starter Patrick Dolan (3-4) took the loss for CSU. Dolan went 6 1/3 while allowing five runs (all earned) on seven hits. He struck out two PC hitters and issued four walks.

Blue Hose starter Beau Dees (3-5) collected three strikeouts in seven innings of work in picking up the win. He gave up two runs (both earned) on nine hits and two walks.

Charleston Southern jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second that started with a double down the left field line for freshman Robbie Streett, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. After Blake Hunt moved Streett to third with a sacrifice bunt, Streett would cross home on an infield single from Harrison Wilkins, one of his two hits in the ball game.

The Blue Hose would quickly respond in the bottom half of the inning. A one-out single from Nathan Chong started the rally and Chong advanced to second on a wild pitch before moving to third on a groundout to first off the bat of Robby Swab. With two outs, Gabe Grammar took a pitch from Dolan over the head of Chase Shelton in right field for an RBI triple to even the game 1-1. The next batter, Brandon Paul, would drive a ground ball thru the middle for a base hit that gave PC a 2-1 advantage.

Streett again singled for the Bucs, this time with one out in the top of the sixth. With two outs now in the inning, Wilkins launched a double into the right center field gap, but was thrown out at third trying to stretch it into a triple. Streett would touch home plate just before the tag at third, tying the game 2-2.

The bottom of the seventh would do the Buccaneers in as they allowed four PC runs to cross home plate, giving the Blue Hose a 6-2 advantage that would not be overcome. With one out, lead off man Andrew Williams was issued a walk then Billy Motroni followed with a single to left field and took second on the throw, moving Williams to third. Dolan would then intentionally walk Brad Zebedis to load the bases before giving way to reliever Zach Hagaman. Hagaman would deliver a wild pitch that broke the 2-2 tie and PC would make it 4-2 when the throw back to the plate from catcher Blake Hunt went wide of Hagaman, allowing a second run to cross. An RBI single from Chong made it 5-2 before Austin Weekley would come in to try to stop the bleeding for CSU. Weekley would surrender a hit to pinch-hitter Matt Peden that scored Chong before inducing a flyout to end the inning.

The Bucs would not go down without a fight, however. Grammer would come on in relief for the Blue Hose to start the bottom of the eighth, and was greeted by a Walt Quattlebaum single into left field. After retiring the next two batters via a strike out and fly out, Grammer would hit Wilkins with a pitch and Ison would follow with a single thru the left side of the infield to load the bases. All runners would move up 90 feet on a wild pitch, scoring Quattlebaum and making it 6-3 before Jaren Sustar flied out to left field to end the threat.

Grammer and Chong each collected two hits and one RBI for Presbyterian on the afternoon.

The CSU offense was paced by Ison's 5-for-5 performance, while Streett and Wilkins each contributed two hits. Wilkins also had two RBI for the Buccaneers.

Charleston Southern will have a nine day lay-off before returning to the diamond on May 2 as they travel to Statesboro, Ga. to take on Georgia Southern. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
