CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern's Tory Schroff
finished off Friday night's continued game with eight innings of
shutout work to lift the Bucs to a 1-0 win in the opener of a Big
South doubleheader on Saturday against Presbyterian. PC took game
two, 8-4, as the Bucs played a complete game under their new lights
for the first time.
Schroff (WP, 5-2) seemed to preserve the momentum from an
electric atmosphere on Friday night to give the Bucs their first
shutout of the season. He recorded the final 25 outs after starter
Ryan Gunther pitched to two batters before storms set in on
Friday.
"Tory Schroff was dominant," CSU head coach Stuart Lake said of
his starter following the weekend opening win. "I'm thrilled for
him to get the win after what he has given us at times when he
hasn't won. He also gave us the win coming off of that first night
game, even though it finished during the day, but it was a good
start. "
The Bucs move to 16-23 overall and 6-8 Big South play, while PC
is now 21-19 and 8-6. The two teams meet again on Sunday at 2 p.m.
in a pivotal series finale.

season.
The Bucs scored their only run in the third as Bobby Ison
singled home Robbie Streett to give CSU its final advantage. Jaren
Sustar was thrown out trying to score on the play as CSU piled up
three singles and a walk in the inning, but came away only with the
lone run.

runs in the fifth as a costly error produced three unearned
runs.

Chandler Knox (WP, 3-4) scattered nine hits over seven innings to
get the win.
Ison had an RBI double for the Bucs in the second inning and
