"I'm incredibly excited to join the Charleston Southern family and Buccaneers athletics department, led by director of athletics Jeff Barber," Woods said. "From the time Jeff and I first spoke, I knew this was a special place with exceptional people, from the student-athletes to the coaches and staff. I want to thank Jeff and his staff for the trust and confidence in me to lead this office and build on the success already established. I look forward to working with the department to tell the great stories that reside here and I can't wait to get started!"

Prior to joining Charleston Southern, Woods worked at Charlotte, his alma mater, as the Assistant Director of Media Relations for nine years. He worked with all 18 sports at Wofford, primarily handling duties with women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf and rifle. He was the Terriers' primary statistician and worked to upgrade histories for all sports he covered. Woods also assisted with the Carolina Panthers Training Camp, held on the collegiate campus each summer.

Woods served a 10-month internship in sports information at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he worked alongside 10 Midshipmen programs and was a member of the football and basketball stat crews, including the Army-Navy football game at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Woods began his duties in the media relations field as a student assistant with the Charlotte 49ers from August 1997 through his graduation from the school in May 2002. While with the Niners as an undergraduate, he was the women's soccer program's SID for four years, including during the inaugural NCAA Tournament appearance in 1998, and assisted in game operations for men's and women's basketball and baseball. He graduated from Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
