Baseball Sees The Citadel for Second Lowcountry Clash of the Year

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern baseball heads to The Citadel on Tuesday in the second meeting of four scheduled throughout the year between the two crosstown rivals this season, as first pitch from Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park is set for 4:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Citadel made a statement in the first meeting between the two sides, as the Bulldogs took the season advantage with a 16-3 win at Nielson Field. The Bulldogs hit two grand slams in the mid-week affair.
 
LONG HISTORY
The two sides have clashed a total of 92 times since the first installment in 1980, with The Citadel holding a 60-32 lead in the series. More recently, the Bulldogs have taken the last two meetings, including the first one of the 2022 campaign. 

WEEKEND SUCCESS
Charleston Southern found much success over the weekend, completing its first four-game sweep since 2020, taking all four games from the Delaware State. Freshman Evan Truitt was recently named Big South Freshman of the Week for his commanding start in game three, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings to go along with eight strikeouts.
 
UP NEXT
Charleston Southern will play host to Villanova just 24 hours later at Nielsen Field, as the Bucs take part in their second mid-week game in as many days before a weekend series with Samford.
