NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern baseball team took on the Creighton Blue Jays at Nielsen Field on Friday night, dropping game one of this non-conference series by a 13-6 score.
Creighton (18-4) scored at least one run in each of the first six innings and seven of the nine innings overall. Down 2-0 in the first,
Chandler Tuupo knocked in a run with an RBI single.
Parks Ledwell suffered his first defeat of the season, as he lasted just 2.0+ innings allowing seven runs on five hits.
Devin MacWatters relieved him and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks. The Bucs used six total pitchers on the night, and the staff allowed a combined seven walks and 11 hits.
The Bucs (12-14, 4-2 in conference) scored in the third and fourth innings.
Gavin Bogdanchik scored on a wild pitch in the third inning, and
Cade Conway scored two with an infield single to the pitcher.
Charleston Southern went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the ninth inning thanks to an RBI single from both
Peter Werth and Bogdanchik. Conway, Tuupo and
Dakota Miller each had two hits for the Bucs on the night, and Bogdanchik scored three times.
The series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 2 PM. The first game will be streamed on ESPN+.
