CHARLESTON – Baseball dropped a midweek game to Wofford on Tuesday evening. The final score was 29-7 in favor of the Terriers.
"It was a very impressive display by Wofford offensively," said Head Coach
Marc MacMillan. "The odds of putting together the chain of hits they were able to execute is very low. So, you tip your cap and give their hitters the credit earned. They put good swings on the ball all game. As a competitor, you want to play good competition, and you never envision any game going the way it did this evening. So, we have the choice not to allow such a result to define our team moving forward, and I am confident our players will respond accordingly."
The Terriers put up a seven-spot in the first inning with them all coming off
Zac Robinson. Each of their first eight batters reached. The Wofford offense did not slow down, continuing to score the rest of the day, except for the 6
th inning. In that frame,
Chandler Woolridge got on the bump and stifled the Terriers' offense as they were unable to tally any runs.
In the bottom of the second inning, Charleston Southern's
Peter Werth sent a solo home run to left center to get the Bucs on the board. The Bucs had late life scoring runs in the 4
th, 6
th and 7
th innings.
Charleston Southern will be back in action this weekend with a road trip to Longwood for a three-game series. The Friday and Sunday games will be available on ESPN+ with the series opener to begin at 6:00 p.m. from Buddy Bolding Stadium.
