CHARLESTON – Presbyterian took the series opener from Charleston Southern on Friday night by a final score of 14-4. Today's game marked their senior day game, dubbed "BUCS Recognition Day," as they honored each of the players who will be graduating prior to the beginning of next season.
"First, thank you to our graduate and senior BUCS," said Head Coach
Marc MacMillan following the result. "It has been an absolute joy coaching their teammates and them this year."
MacMillan continues "As for the game, there certainly are things that could be pointed out. But it would take away from Presbyterian's performance, and I do not want to do that. They were the better team today and earned the win."
Presbyterian was able to get an early lead in the game off a run in the second inning. They then put up a pair of crooked numbers in the fourth and sixth innings to get a big lead at 14-0. The Blue Hose did not score in the final three innings.
Charleston Southern got their first runs in the bottom of the sixth inning getting each scored with two outs on the board.
Sam Low and
JJ Rivera provided the RBIs in it. The Bucs then scored another pair in the seventh inning with a single by
Aidan McAskie and a sacrifice fly from
BJ Banyon.
Matt Gallant had the start on the day for the Bucs throwing 3.0 innings.
Devin MacWatters had 0.1 of work while
Tyler Henshaw had 2.0.
Christian Robb shined on the mound with just one earned run allowed and a hit in his 3.2 of work.
At the plate, Banyon and Low each had two hits. Rivera,
Chandler Tuupo,
Gavin Bogdanchik,
Hayden Henry, McAskie and
Evann Long had one hit each. Rivera drew a pair of walks while Pringle had one as well.
The series continues tomorrow with game two scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Nielsen Field at CSU Ballpark. The game will also be streamed live on ESPN+ with Chase Martaus and Mike Ward on the call.
