CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern had their early signing period come and pass on Wednesday morning with the team announcing a 17-man haul from the day. In total, the group features eight linemen total between the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
Of the 17 signees, the state of Georgia is where most of the recruits are from with eight. Additionally, they are bringing in four from South Carolina and four from Florida. One of the most noteworthy additions is a punter from Australia, the first player from the country in the program's history.
As mentioned, there was a lot of attention given to the trenches with just under half of the additions being in these position groups. There were five defensive linemen and three offensive linemen that were signed. Continuing to add to the front seven's depth, there were three linebackers that will be joining the Buccaneers. Rounding out the group are a wide receiver, two safeties, a cornerback, a kicker and a punter.
