CHARLESTON – Monday afternoon, the Big South Conference announced its newest Freshman of the Week award winner, Charleston Southern's Jacob Taylor. Taylor earned the award for the second time this season after scoring a career-high at USC Upstate on Saturday.
Taylor achieved career-highs in points (24), made field goals (7), and made three-pointers (4) against the Spartans on February 7th. The freshman from Marietta, Georgia earned his 17th starting lineup appearance on Saturday in Spartanburg and led the Buccaneers with 13 points in the first-half. He connected on all three of his long-range attempts in the opening 20 minutes and shot 80-percent from the floor overall.
Only four freshmen, including Taylor, have won the Freshman of the Week award multiple times in the conference this season – asserting Taylor's name into the status as one of the most promising young talents in the Big South.
