FLORENCE, S.C. - A bad bounce on a cross in the 70th minute proved to be the difference as CSU came up on the short end of the 2-1 score as the Lady Bucs fell to Francis Marion Wednesday evening.

The Patriots improve to 2-3-0, while the Buccaneers drop to 3-2-0 following the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

After falling behind in the 37th minute on a goal by Brittany Rothenbach, CSU bounced back, putting the ball in the back of the net just before the first half came to an end. With less than one minute left, Emma Mattsson took a pass from Rose Marie Senise and blasted a shot from 20-yards out to even the score.

CSU was able to withstand a barrage of 11 shots by the Patriots in the second half, but an FMU cross bounced off a Lady Buc defender and into the goal, giving FMU the lead, and eventually the win. CSU keeper Mia Cederholm recorded seven saves in the loss.

The Lady Bucs will try to rebound as they start Big South Conference play, heading to Liberty on Saturday.
