Charleston, S.C. - The Buccaneers evened their record at 4-4 after beating The Citadel, 5-2, at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus.
The Buccaneers jumped right out and took the doubles point, despite losing in the number one doubles match to the Nationally-ranked duo from The Citadel. Things looked good from there, though, as The Citadel is winless this season when dropping the doubles point.
In singles action, J. Dean held the 7-6 advantage over Dossetor
at No. 1 singles, threatening Dossetor's five-match winning streak,
but withdrew from the match due to injury and folded that point to
give the Bulldogs their first team point of the day.
With the score tied at one, Charleston Southern took the lead after
Guy David defeated The Citadel's Frederic Petrilli, 6-2, 6-0, at
No. 6 singles. Martin King tied the match for The Citadel at No. 5
singles after his 7-5, 6-4 win over Lee Schutte. However, that
would be the final victory of the day for The Citadel after the
Bulldogs were defeated throughout the rest of the singles
matches.
The Bucs host Big South favorite Winthrop on Saturday at 1 p.m.
