Lady Bucs Split With Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Lady Bucs took game one 3-2, but fell in game to 5-1 to the Dolphins of Jacksonville, Thursday afternoon at the JU Softball Complex. The Lady Bucs moved their record to 11-26 on the season, while Jacksonville holds an 8-27 mark.

Amanda Noble earned the victory from the rubber in game one, pitching a complete game, giving up just one earned run.

The Lady Bucs scored all three runs in the fourth inning. With two outs, Candace Rowell moved Jill Shondel to third base on a single to right field. Brittany Giannini plated Shondel in the next at-bat with a single to give the Buccaneers a 1-0 lead. Tiffany Reid followed with a two-run single up the middle to cap off the inning.

CSU would surrender two runs in the sixth, but held off the Dolphins for the game-one victory.

Game One Box

Freshmen Jillian LaFrance and Caitlin Allen combined to pitch game two, with LaFrance earning the start, and the loss after giving up a run in the bottom of the first inning.

After falling behind 4-0, the Lady Bucs tried to mount a comeback in the sixth, scoring once, but another run added on by the Dolphins in the bottom of the inning put things out of reach.
