Postgame quotes from CSU vs. College of Charleston

Box Score

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Postgame quotes from CSU Head Basketball Coach Barclay Radebaugh are available after his team's 87-74 loss to College of Charleston on Wednesday night:

On the final five minutes of the first half, when CofC went on a 20-3 run:
"It was a two-point game at the 5:30 mark, and it just went downhill from there. We made one turnover after another and missed some shots. We had many self-inflicted wounds. We had four or five of what I call 'atomic bombs', turnovers that led to big plays. They picked up their pressure and we didn't respond well."

On the character his team showed in defeat:
"I'm proud of our character, and the way we fought in the second half to make the final score somewhat respectable."

On how Jeremy Sexton performed at the point guard position:
"It's going to be a work in progress. (Jeremy) has played some point, and Jamarco (Warren) has played a lot of point as well. They both know how to do it. What we do need to work on is when Jeremy is at the point, his job is to pitch it ahead to Jamarco and run. We didn't really run our lanes."

On College of Charleston's offensive arsenal:
"I think they are very talented, and they have many talented scorers. I thought we handled the majority of the stuff they threw at us until the last five minutes (of the first half).

On the progress his team is making:
"I'm pleased with this team and how they're developing. It didn't show tonight, but it will. Folks have to remember, this team was picked to win (the Southern Conference)."

On the stretches that have cost his team in a three-game losing streak:
"We had a five-minute stretch and Liberty and VMI and again tonight that really hurt us. We're going to have to go back and look and film to see who is in the game when we have those bad stretches."

On how the game will benefit the young Buccaneers as the season continues:
"I told the guys that we have to keep fighting. If we keep fighting, this game will be a positive for us at the end of the year. We'll learn something from this game that will really help us."
