CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern defeated the Lady Tigers of Voorhees College at a score of 96-63. Leading the Buccaneers was senior Katie Tull. Tull had an unbelievable night from behind the arc. Tull set a new CSU record for three pointers made in a game with nine. Tull broke the mark that stood in CSU record books for over twenty years. That record was previously held by Joy Galloway who made eight threes in a game against Campbell on Jan.23, 1989. In the process she also tied her own career high of 27 points.

"I was really excited for Katie to hit her three point shots, she works really hard on her shots on her own and hasn't shot that well in our first two games, but tonight she was really in the flow," said head Coach Julie Goodenough.

The Bucs were in control of tonight's game from the opening tip and jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first 1:20. The Bucs would continue to add to their lead throughout the first-half, getting it as high as 24 at one point.

Not to be outdone by Tull's career night was sophomore Buccaneer Helen Terry. She also had an outstanding career night on the hardwood. Terry had a career high in points with 23, as well as steals with six on the night. She scored an astounding 12 straight points for the Bucs over a span of 1:14 in the first half. Terry singlehandedly outscored the Lady Tigers entire team 12 to four over that time frame.

As if setting a new Charleston Southern record for threes made in a game wasn't enough, Tull also passed the 1000 point milestone for her career on her seventh trey on the night. Tull didn't even attempt a field goal that was inside the three point line, going 9-of-15 from three point land. Many of Tull's makes tonight were from well beyond the college three point line; in "NBA" range.

The Bucs are beginning to get dialed in from behind the arc. After shooting 17.5% from three point over their first two contests the Bucs shot a much improved 40% in tonight's game, due in large part to Tull's exploits from deep.

"I am so excited, but I can't thank my team mates enough for getting me the ball when I was open. It seemed like everytime I was open I was getting the ball. It was just awesome," said Katie Tull about her career night.

Also in double figures for the Buccaneers was senior Kelsey Wasmer who had 11 points and led the team in rebounds with seven.

Leading the Lady Tigers of Voorhees in a losing effort was Keia Tillman with 16, one of four Voorhees players in double figures.

The Bucs will hit the floor once again this coming Monday when they will face UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m. The Bucs will then travel to Lubbock, Texas where they will participate in the World Vision Classic hosted by Texas Tech University.
