vs. the Georgia Southern Eagles, dropping an 8-0 contest before
taking a 6-3 win Wednesday, at Buccaneer Field. The Bucs struggled
at the plate in both games, with a combined seven hits, but two
three-run homeruns from Megan Lombard and Megan Hall lifted CSU in
game two. CSU moved to 12-9-1 on the season with the split, while
Georgia Southern moved to 11-8.

posting two hits in game one. Lombard also added a walk and two
runs scored, to go along with her three-run homerun. Trea Steele
chipped in with a double and two runs scored in game two.
CSU couldn't get much going in game one, posting just two hits en
route to an 8-0 loss in five innings. The Bucs went up against
Brianna Streetmon for GSU, the Southern Conference Pre-Season
Pitcher of the Year, who threw a two-hit shutout, complete with
nine strikeouts.
The Eagles were able to play small ball early on in the game, using
back-to-back bunt singles to start the game. After a throwing
error advanced a runner to third, another hit gave GSU a 1-0
advantage.
Streetmon struck out the side in the bottom of the first, before
two more blank innings from both teams. CSU's best scoring
opportunity came in the bottom of the second, after Kegley provided
a lead-off hit. Kristin Kelleher also reached base after an Eagle
throwing error, putting two on with no outs. The Bucs couldn't
take advantage of the GSU miscue however, with a line out and two
ground outs to end the inning.
The Eagles came up with a big inning in the fourth, using three
hits and two CSU errors to post four runs. All runs in the inning
ended up being unearned, after two throwing errors started off the
rally.
GSU tacked on three more to their lead in the top of the fifth,
after six hits as a team. That gave the Eagles an 8-0 lead,
heading in to the bottom of the inning. Streetmon had another one,
two, three inning, ending the game after the run rule.
Sondra Vetter picked up the loss to move to 5-4, after allowing 14
hits and just three earned runs, while striking out three.
Streetmon took home the win to improve to 6-3, after allowing just
two hits and no runs.

runner reaching base. Caitlin Allen started in the circle for CSU
and tallied a strikeout in each of the first three innings.
The Bucs reached the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third,
using three hits to post three runs. Kelleher was hit by a pitch
to put the lead runner on, followed by a Melissa Adams single that
made it two on with one out. Lombard broke the scoring seal for
CSU on the day, sending out a three-run homerun over the right
field fence, to put the Bucs on top 3-0.
The Eagles didn't take long to answer however, recording three runs
of their own in the top of the fourth after three hits. After a
lead-off double, Jenny Side sent out a two-run homer to cut into
the deficit. After another hit and sacrifice bunt, a RBI groundout
erased the CSU lead and tied things at three all.
After a quick fourth inning, the Bucs wasted no time in the bottom
of the fifth, taking back the lead on another three run homerun. A
Steele lead-off double and Lombard walk set the stage for Hall, who
provided in a big way with the homerun to right field. CSU
couldn't manage anymore runs, despite no outs in the inning, but
doubled up their runs for a 6-3 advantage.

over the final two innings. Allen had a one, two, three inning in
the top of the seventh, to make it a final 6-3 win for CSU.
